
Jalé Pullen
WRITER
Born in England, Jalé Pullen began her career as a teenage actress on BBC TV and in the London production of HOTEL PARADISO with Sir Alec Guinness. In the U.S. she studied at the Pasadena Playhouse and appeared in productions at the Santa Monica Playhouse and at the Snow Summit Inn, where she played Little Buttercup in HMS PINAFORE.
After selling her first article about a trip on the Orient Express with her husband, Jalé switched to writing in order to stay home with her young children. Her children’s articles and stories include publications in CALLIOPE, FACES, and STORY FRIENDS. HIGHLIGHTS bought her most recent piece.
Jalé was a First Place Winner at the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators’ So. Cal. Writer’s Day and won an Honorable Mention for a work- in-progress at the California Writer’s Conference. She also received a HIGHLIGHTS Foundation scholarship. In Nov. 2022, Jalé was awarded a NEW VOICES IN WRITING scholarship to the 805 Writer's Conference in Ventura, CA.
Jalé is currently working on a historical novel for middle-graders, spiced with magical realism.
